BEING SELECTED AS THE 2007 VENUE
FOR THE AMERICA'S CUP,THIS MOST
PRESTIGIOUS OF SPORTING EVENTS,
WAS EQUIVALENT TO WINNING
THE LOTTERY!

WHAT A SCOOP!

The news that Valencia had been chosen
as the venue for the 32nd America's Cup
yacht race, was greeted with
euphoria; with celebrations throughout
the city carrying on well
into the night.

TO HEAR THAT THE 33RD AMERICAS CUP WILL ALSO BE HOSTED BY VALENCIA WAS ALMOST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE - BUT TRUE IT IS.
Unfortunately, no definite date can be set for this forthcoming prestigious event due to a legal issue brought by GGYC re a technicality. It is hoped that the matter can be resolved without further delay to enable forward planning to be set in motion. It was originally hoped the event would take place during 2009 but this cannot yet be confirmed.

Regattas began in the autumn of 2004 and continued each year, leading up to the Louis Vuitton Cup, which ultimately decided the challenger for the America's Cup itself in June 2007. The America's Cup, being a match race, is between defender and challenger only.
